چکیده
Abstract In both criminal cases and civil cases, there is an increasing demand for the analysis of DNA mixtures involving relationships. The goal might be, example, to identify contributors a mixture where donors may be related, or infer relationship between individuals based on mixture. This paper introduces approach modelling computation with arbitrarily complex It builds extension Jacquard's condensed coefficients identity, specify compute joint relationships, not only pairwise ones, including possibility inbreeding. methodology developed applied two casework examples missing person, simulation studies performance, in which ability recover information from synthetic data known ‘true’ family structure examined. methods used analyse are implemented new KinMix R package that extends DNAmixtures allow related contributors.

Paternity testing and other inference about relationships from DNA mixtures.
We present methods for inference about relationships between contributors to a DNA mixture and other individuals of known genotype: a basic example would be testing whether a contributor to a mixture is the father of a child of known genotype. The evidence for such a relationship is evaluated as the likelihood ratio for the specified relationship versus the alternative that there is no relation...

MOTIVATION Proteomics presents the opportunity to provide novel insights about the global biochemical state of a tissue. However, a significant problem with current methods is that shotgun proteomics has limited success at detecting many low abundance proteins, such as transcription factors from complex mixtures of cells and tissues. The ability to assay for these proteins in the context of the...
متن کاملIdentification and separation of DNA mixtures using peak area information.
We introduce a new methodology, based upon probabilistic expert systems, for analysing forensic identification problems involving DNA mixture traces using quantitative peak area information. Peak area is modelled with conditional Gaussian distributions. The expert system can be used for ascertaining whether individuals, whose profiles have been measured, have contributed to the mixture. It can ...
متن کاملPractical Bayesian inference using mixtures of mixtures.
Discrete mixtures of normal distributions are widely used in modeling amplitude fluctuations of electrical potentials at synapses of human and other animal nervous systems. The usual framework has independent data values yj arising as yj = mu j + xn0 + j, where the means mu j come from some discrete prior G(mu) and the unknown xno + j's and observed xj, j = 1,...,n0, are Gaussian noise terms. A...
متن کاملAdvanced mixtures for complex high dimensional data: from model-based to Bayesian non-parametric inference
Cluster analysis of complex data is an essential task in statistics and machine learning. One of the most popular approaches in cluster analysis is the one based on mixture models. It includes mixture-model based clustering to partition individuals or possibly variables into groups, block mixture-model based clustering to simultaneously associate individuals and variables to clusters, that is c...
